Turning 65 sets off an avalanche of mail. Most of it is designed to confuse you into calling a number where somebody you will never meet again reads you a script.

Medicare plans. Medicare by itself leaves gaps: deductibles, coinsurance, and costs with no annual ceiling. How you fill those gaps is the real decision, and it is a genuine decision with trade-offs rather than one obvious right answer. We will walk you through what Medicare covers on its own, what the options are for covering the rest, how prescription coverage fits in, and when you can enroll or change without a penalty. Missing an enrollment window can cost you a permanent surcharge, so the timing genuinely matters.

Cancer plans. A cancer policy pays you directly on diagnosis, separate from whatever your health coverage does. That money can go toward anything: deductibles, travel to treatment in Jackson or Birmingham, time off work, the household bills that do not stop. Families who have been through it are usually the ones who ask us about this.

Final expense plans. A small permanent life policy sized to cover a funeral and the costs around it, so your family is not making arrangements and finding money in the same week. Usually straightforward to qualify for, with no medical exam on many plans, and the premium does not increase with age.

No pressure. Come in, ask whatever you want to ask, and leave without buying anything. That is a completely acceptable outcome and it happens regularly. If you want to bring a son or daughter with you, bring them.
