A bond is not insurance, though it is sold by insurance agencies and people mix the two up constantly. Insurance protects you. A bond protects the person you are doing work for, by guaranteeing that you will do what you agreed to do, or that they will be made whole if you do not.
Usually someone has already told you that you need one: a licensing board, a general contractor, a city or county clerk, or a court. If you have a letter telling you to get bonded, bring it in or read it to us over the phone and we will take it from there.
What we write: contract bonds, including bid, performance and payment bonds on construction work. License and permit bonds required before a state or local authority will issue a license. Notary bonds for Mississippi notaries public. Court and fiduciary bonds required in probate and guardianship matters. If yours is not on that list, call anyway. Between the companies we represent we can usually place it or tell you who can.
What to bring: the document that says you need the bond, the exact amount required, who the bond is for, and the deadline. That requirement letter answers most of our questions on its own, so start with it.
